Suffolk: The place to toast the Royal Wedding and escape to the country this Easter 2011

Easter Weekend Away in SuffolkPrince William and Kate Middleton. Photo by esther1616 on Flickr.Where can you spend the eleven day holiday if you want to get out of London but don’t fancy a trip abroad?

The well-publicised glut of bank holidays surrounding the royal wedding will mean that taking just three days’ holiday from work will afford the savvy holiday seeker eleven consecutive days off, starting with Good Friday (22nd April 2011) and ending with May Day (2nd May 2011).

The Royal Wedding weekend will see London in flux. Whilst well-wishers from all corners of the globe pour into the capital to witness the wedding and join in the festivities, Londoners will be looking for a quiet sanctuary to escape the chaos. Similarly, visitors from overseas may also wish to see more of England, as well as witness the Royal nuptials of England’s future King.

East Anglia, a favourite with the Royals, is only 90 minutes from London but is a world away from the Capital.  From coastline to Constable Country and its cultural heritage, Suffolk provides plenty to amuse during a lengthy stay.

East Anglia is connected to the Royals in more ways than one. The Royal couple’s pageboy, Billy Lowther-Pinkerton, hails from Suffolk, and East Anglia houses the much-loved country retreat of the Queen, Sandringham Estate.
