Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 10:38AM Wheeler's Cottage is perfect for a rural retreat. The cottage itself is furnished with care and attention to detail. Everything needed, and desired, is on hand and it exudes comfort. 'Hollow Trees', the nearby farm shop, is excellent and well worth a visit.
The small town of Hadleigh has a lovely high street with an excellent butcher shop and a first class wine merchant. There were two pubs in particular that we found welcoming and which served good food and ale, The Bell in Kersey and The Lyndsey Rose in Lyndsey. However, our best evenings were when we returned to the cottage with provisions and cooked and ate in the charming kitchen; with a bottle of wine and a candle - very romantic!
