The Cooking Experience in Suffolk

wonderful day, fun, friendly, fantastic food. No stress just enjoyment

Career highlights: TV appearances include Cash in The Attic, GMTV Christmas Cooking, radio, Egon Ronay inspector, restaurant manager for Robert Carrier at Hintlesham Hall.

A special gourmet food weekend in Suffolk

The Cooking Experience in Suffolk is probably the only truly recreational Cooking School in the UK. Unlike a school Mark doesn't teach or preach but lays on a really enjoyable hands-on cooking day.

From its professional kitchens in Hadleigh, The Cooking Experience runs regular cooking events & courses including a fantastic Seafood Extravaganza Day in Suffolk.

Other venues:

London venues for groups of 12-70 people: The Knightsbridge Aga Shop, near Harrods
Vinopolis Wine Centre, close to London Bridge and Borough Market

Normandy: The French Experience. As featured in The Telegraph.

A special gourmet experience

For guests of Suffolk Character Cottages, Mark offers a special day at The Cooking Experience kitchens followed by an evening of food and wine back at Stay Barn in Suffolk.

On arrival, you are immediately put at ease by your genial hosts Mark and Annie David.  By the end of the day you feel totally at home and very inspired! Mark takes many of the myths out of cooking, and majors on how to cut corners and be there for your guests rather than a slave in the kitchen.

Local food, in season and fresh fish are the staple of Mark's menus. The cooking sessions are not too long and never boring. Whilst guests are given a folder of recipes to take home, Mark will inject a bit of the unexpected, cooking by the seat of his pants and regularly tweaking recipes as only a truly confident chef can do.

Time is spent sipping wine around the table in Mark and Annie’s professional kitchen or in the summer garden marquee. The aim is to eat what you cook, take time to enjoy it, and have fun in Mark's engaging company!

The Cooking Experience sources local seasonal ingredients from the town's butchers and grocers. And not surprisingly, Mark enjoys an excellent friendship with Daniel Eastwood of Crystal Waters Seafood, who sells fresh fish from the Hadleigh marketplace every Friday.
